Teen Social Group
Welcome to the Freddie Ford Family Foundation's Teen Social Group! Our vibrant community has blossomed into a haven for teens with autism, offering a safe space to connect, belong, and enjoy themselves.
What began as a single social outing has grown into a thriving network of over 100 members on Facebook, all part of the Freddie Ford Teens Social Support - Parent Group. To join, simply find our group on Facebook by looking up "Freddie Ford Teens Social Support - Parent Group" and request membership (it's free!).
The teens connect and communicate through their own group app, which for safety you'll get information on how they can join once you join the group. While their app is monitored by Foundation members, to help them foster "tribe" and age-appropriate independence, parents do not join the app.
Our teen social group regularly hosts events, conducts weekly social skills calls, and the teens get the opportunity to participate in meaningful self-advocacy projects, such as participation in Missouri Disability Legislative Rights Day and internationally recognized, award-winning research projects like their "Missouri Safe At School" anti-bullying project, which won two Communicator Awards from the Academy of Interactive Visual Arts.
Parents are also actively engaged, with virtual and in-person meet-ups to exchange information and foster connections. We warmly welcome families from Missouri and the Greater St. Louis area in Illinois and Indiana.
